Colonel Jonathan L. Whitaker is the Chief of Staff, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Combined Forces Space Component Command (CFSpCC), Ramstein Air Base, Germany. He is the principal space advisor to the Commander, for Space Domain Awareness (SDA), Space Domain Coordination, and Operational Space Support for the 32-member Alliance. In this role, Col Whitaker leads a multi-national team of space professionals in the operational oversight of the NATO space mission area. Additionally, he leads the development of the fledgling NATO Space Operations Center, NATO’s SDA hub . Previously, Col Whitaker served as the Director of Space Forces, United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM).
Colonel Whitaker entered the Air Force in 2002 as a graduate of AirForce Reserve Officer TrainingCorps, Mississippi State University.A career space operations officer, starting with the NATO IV/Skynet-4 MILSATCOM system, he has served in various assignments as an operator, staff officer, operations officer, and commander across the space and intelligence community.
Colonel Whitaker is married to the lovely and talented Ms. Jennifer Whitaker, withwhom he has three beautiful daughters, Lauren (18), Holly (16), and Olivia (11). He is also an avid guitar player, however his enthusiasm for the instrument far outpaces his ability.
