Col Matthew C. Wroten serves as Global Warfare Requirements Division Chief, Capability and Resource Integration Directorate, United States Space Command. In this role, he leads a joint team of 22 personnel, developing and advocating for Space Domain Awareness and Missile Warning/Tracking/Defense requirements, in addition to providing technical input into the Command’s positions in the Future Years Defense Program. Prior to this assignment, Col Wroten recently served as Deputy Director for USSF Test and Evaluation, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. In support of the director, he was responsible for organizing, training, and equipping test resources for USSF’s $16B enterprise. He was a lead advisor on test and range issues and directed strategy enabling validation of enterprise space capabilities. Additionally, he set USSF test and evaluation policy, and provided service-wide oversight for developmental test, operational test, and weapon system and evaluation programs. As his final Air Force assignment before transferring to the Space Force, Col Wroten served as the Commander of the 846th Test Squadron, the world-famous “Holloman High Speed Test Track,” Holloman Air Force Base, NM. In this role, he directed a 130-person combined military, civilian and contractor team conducting developmental tests for crew escape systems, deep earth penetrating weapons, infrared countermeasures and ballistic missile defense. He managed a $14M budget supporting design and fabrication of rocket sleds to meet test requirements. Col Wroten was commissioned through the US Air Force Academy in 2003. His career has spanned several Test and Evaluation programs, including service as a Scientific Analyst, Flight Test Engineer, Test Conductor, and Test Director on A-10, C-5, T-38, F-16, KC-135, and F-35 test programs. In Academia, Lt Col Wroten served as an Assistant Professor of Probability and Statistics at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He holds a Level 3 certification in Test and Evaluation.
