Gil Griffin is vice president of Strategy & Business Development of the Space and Airborne Systems segment for L3Harris Technologies. In this role, he is responsible for the segment’s strategic planning process, including developing and refining the research and development portfolio and aligning investments to achieve growth objectives.

Griffin leads strategic activities, including business development, strategic marketing and external communications, and business analytics for the segment. He reports to the president of Space and Airborne Systems and is based in Palm Bay, Florida.

Space and Airborne Systems is a leading provider of full mission solutions as a prime and subsystem integrator in the space, airborne and cyber domains. Space and Airborne Systems provides top-tier capabilities in the design, development, integration, production and sustainment of major weapons systems for defense primes and national security, civil government and international customers. 

Before joining L3Harris, Griffin was the executive director of Phantom Works, Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s advanced research, development and prototyping division. Griffin oversaw profit and loss for advanced technology projects in space, weapons, directed energy, and Electro-Optical systems.

Prior to joining Boeing, Griffin served in the U.S. Air Force where his duties included back-to-back division chief roles in the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office; mission director for Flight Test Operations; Air Force lead for Export Control; systems effectiveness lead in the F-22 Program Office and space control officer responsible for all aspects of space superiority.

Before joining the Air Force, Griffin served in the Texas Army National Guard Cavalry Regiment’s Intelligence Division.

Griffin holds a Master of Business Administration from Colorado Technical University and a Master of Military Operational Art and Science, Air University Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colorado State University.
