
James Moschgat

National Security Space Institute
Mr. James E. Moschgat is the Director, National Security Space Institute, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. He leads a multi-service team providing space-centric professional continuing education to select space professionals worldwide. The Institute offers a wide spectrum of education opportunities spanning the tactical, operational, and strategic levels of war, with subjects ranging from space law and doctrine to orbital mechanics and the geo-political implications of space employment. The Institute proudly serves the education needs of the US Space Force, Sister Services, Federal agencies, NATO, and 62 partner nations. Mr. Moschgat assumed his current duties on 18 Jun 2024.
During his 30-year active-duty Air Force career, Mr. Moschgat accumulated more than 4,000 flying hours in fighter and trainer aircraft, including the F-4, F- 16, T/AT-38, and the T-6A, and flew 60 combat missions in Operations NORTHERN and SOUTHERN WATCH, and IRAQI FREEDOM. He commanded two squadrons, an operations group, and an air expeditionary wing, and served staff tours at HQ United States Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, GE, and HQ 12th Air Force, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, AZ. Mr. Moschgat retired from active duty in 2007 and began his civil service career the same year.
He is married to the former Becky J. Daggett of Pleasanton, CA. They have three adult children, Rhonda, Kymberli, and Matthew.
