Nina M. Armagno served 35 years as a national defense expert and space operations officer in the United States Air Force and the United States Space Force. As the first Lieutenant General confirmed by the Senate into the Space Force, Armagno served as the first director of staff where she orchestrated the establishment of the sixth branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Commissioned from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1988, she is the only person to have commanded both launch wings in the Air Force. Today, Armagno serves on the board of directors and strategic advisory groups for several companies, to include Rocket Lab, United Launch Alliance, and Lockheed Martin. Armagno has received a series of awards, to include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the General Jerome F. O’Malley Distinguished Space Leadership Award, and the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Award.
