Commercial Spaceflight Federation
Sanford manages and directs advocacy of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation, the leading national trade association for entrepreneurial space companies and organizations. His work is focused on building and leveraging consensus coalitions of member companies to positively influence a wide range of regulatory and policy issues, including reforms of launch and remote sensing regulations, modernizing planetary protection policies, and maximizing government use of public-private partnerships and commercial service buys.
As a leading expert on the commercial space industry, Sanford is a member of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s) Advisory Committee on Commercial Remote Sensing (ACCRES), and has been a member of the NASA’s Planetary Protection Independent Review Board Recommendations and International Space Station (ISS) Cooperative Agreement Independent Review Team.
