Raymond A. Sharp is the Vice President of the Missile Defense Integration (MDI) Business Unit (BU), which develops and deploys missile warning, tracking and defense systems to the U.S. government and its allies. The MDI BU delivers capabilities and products that span the entire kill chain to protect the U.S., its deployed forces, and allies against the full spectrum of evolving and emerging missile threats. In this role, Sharp has profit and loss responsibility for a portfolio of programs ranging from large ground software and hardware programs to space data fusion systems. He is responsible for driving the strategic and sustainable growth of his portfolio and the development of the next generation of missile warning, tracking and defense thought leaders and professionals.
In 2025, Sharp led Northrop Grumman’s enterprise Golden Dome for America efforts where he leveraged his extensive expertise in developing next-generation missile defense solutions to shape Northrop Grumman’s vision and strategy to support the once-in-a-generation Golden Dome for America initiative. In this role, he worked across Northrop Grumman to provide thought leadership and shape an architectural approach that encompasses the full scope of the company’s missile defeat capabilities, from left of launch to sensing to intercept.
Sharp previously served as Director of Programs, Passive Radio Frequency (RF), within Northrop Grumman’s Payload and Grounds Systems business. He was responsible for the successful capture of the next generation passive RF systems and advanced space systems technology, as well as accountable for the successful execution of a portfolio of space and technology programs.
He previously served as Director, Long Range Air Defense and Detection Systems, a portfolio that included radar products, biohazard detection systems and inter-vehicle communication systems deployed domestically and internationally. Prior to that, Sharp led an organization specializing in software development and processing technology, owning responsibility for all software and digital technology (firmware) engineering execution for the Mission Systems’ sector engineering eastern region. In Australia, Sharp managed the hardware department for a mission critical system. He started his Northrop Grumman career as a Communication Systems System Engineering Leader.
Sharp earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University and his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech, where he is currently an advisory board member for the university’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
