Anny Vu is the State Department Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of Emerging Threats. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, she served as Charge d’Affaires at U.S. Embassy Beijing. Her extensive experience includes roles as Senior Advisor to the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Political Chief at the American Institute in Taiwan, Deputy China Coordinator, and a member of the Secretary’s Policy Planning Staff. At the White House, Anny served as Special Assistant to the President and NSC Senior Director for International Organizations during President Trump’s first term, along with multiple NSC roles covering Africa, UN, and China. She also served at the U.S. Mission to the UN, at U.S. Embassies Beijing and Paris, Secretary’s Operations Center, and Bureaus of East Asian and Pacific Affairs and Western Hemisphere Affairs. A graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and UCLA, Anny speaks Mandarin, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and French.
