SPACE SYMPOSIUM SPEAKERS
Dr. Wesley Fuhrman
Lunar Surface Innovation Initiative Lead, APL
Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory
Dr. Wesley Fuhrman is a multifaceted condensed matter physicist with a passion for collaborative, interdisciplinary science. Wesley earned his PhD from The Johns Hopkins University in spectroscopy and theory of topological quantum materials, primarily utilizing large-scale neutron and X-ray facilities (elastic/inelastic scattering, spin-echo, PGAA, XAS, XMCD, etc.). Following this, he was a Schmidt Science Fellow, an interdisciplinary research and leadership program in partnership with the Rhodes Trust. Materials expertise spans synthesis and bulk crystal growth, characterization and analysis, advanced spectroscopy, theory of strongly correlated materials, and device fabrication on lab-grown single crystals. At APL, Wesley works across Civil and National Security Space on projects related to hypervelocity impact sensing and modeling, advanced materials, lunar/cislunar space, and more. Wesley was part of the initial LSII/LSIC team at APL as the Surface Power Focus Lead.
