Chief Operating Officer
KP Labs
Michał Zachara serves as the Chief Operating Officer at KP Labs, a pioneering NewSpace company based in Poland. Established in 2016, KP Labs specializes in developing advanced solutions including Data Processing Units, AI algorithms, and software designed for edge processing, primarily for small and medium-sized satellites. The company’s primary focus is on earth observation, particularly in the area of hyperspectral data processing.
With a team exceeding 80 professionals, KP Labs engages in the development of innovative products and projects, collaborating with prominent organizations such as ESA, NASA, and various entities in the private sector. The company has successfully demonstrated its capabilities through its participation in five distinct space missions, enhancing satellite functionality primarily through on-board data processing. KP Labs offers a diverse range of subsystems catering to subsectors including Earth Observation, SSA/SST, scientific, and Deep Space missions. It has established a unique product line, the Smart Mission Ecosystem, designed to assist mission integrators and operators in bringing data processing closer to the edge device, namely satellite. This ecosystem integrates essential hardware, software, and AI-driven algorithms to facilitate efficient in-orbit data processing.
A significant milestone for KP Labs was the launch of its own hyperspectral satellite, Intuition-1, launched in November 2023. Intuition-1 serves as a technological demonstrator,
highlighting the efficacy of using artificial intelligence for processing hyperspectral data in orbit. This innovation aims to enhance the efficiency of remote sensing processes and showcases the potential of KP Labs’ optics in observing phenomena previously undetectable by standard panchromatic, multispectral, or radar satellites. Intuition-1 will also serve as a flying laboratory for various space actors, who will be able to test their software solutions in space.
Michał Zachara is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Economics in Katowice, holding degree in Computer Science and Econometrics. With over 15 years of managerial experience, he is a vital member of the Board of the Polish Space Agency and the Polish Space Cluster.
