Richard Schgallis

Executive Vice President, Space

Richard is Executive VP of Space Solutions at Safran Defense and Space Inc, which specializes in providing the satellite componentry necessary for enabling data-to-decision architectures.  In this role, he built Safran’s first domestic U.S. team specifically fielded to address USG commercial space requirements and opportunities to include AI/ML workflows and interfaces for space-based integration with operational decision making.  Richard served 25 years in the US Navy flying the EA-6B Prowler tactical electronic warfare jet from aircraft carriers around the world.  He served as the Navy’s first Fleet Space Operations Officer at Naval Forces Europe in Naples Italy, eventually retiring from his last duty in the AS&T Office of the NRO.  He holds an MS in Space Systems Engineering and Applied Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School, and an MBA from the University of West Florida.
