Sabrina Jawed

Sabrina Jawed is the Acting Deputy Assistant Chief Counsel for Regulations at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where she oversees six teams responsible for laws related to airworthiness, operations, airmen certification, air traffic, and commercial space. During her tenure at the FAA, Ms. Jawed has also served as the Commercial Space Law Branch Manager in Chief Counsel’s Office and the Regulations and Standards Branch Manager in the Office of Commercial Space Transportation. She is an expert in administrative and commercial space law. Ms. Jawed has developed regulations, addressed licensing and treaty issues, worked on inter-agency coordination and enforcement matters, and developed space policy.
In addition to her over 15 years of experience at the FAA, Ms. Jawed has served as an Adjunct Professor of Legal Rhetoric at American University Washington College of Law. Early in her career, she gained valuable experience as a law clerk at D.C. Superior Court and as a Summer Associate at Blank Rome LLP, contributing to litigation, legal research, and article publications. Ms. Jawed brings a wealth of expertise in both regulatory law and commercial space policy.
Ms. Jawed earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Duke University, graduating cum laude. She is also an alumna of American University Washington College of Law where she received her J.D. in 2009. At WCL, Ms. Jawed was a member of the Administrative Law Review, and she was involved in International Commercial Mediation Competition, Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition, the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition, and she was the Director of Public Relations of the Law and Government Society.
