Exoplanet Astronomer
Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory

Dr. Erin May is an astrophysicist at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory where she primarily works on the analysis and interpretation of James Webb Space Telescope data of transiting exoplanets. She received her PhD from the University of Michigan where she focused on ground-based observations of exoplanets as well as 3D general circulation models of exoplanet atmosphere dynamics to make observational predictions. Her expertise spans large hot Jupiters for population studies, through small, rocky exoplanets with a focus on the search for atmospheres, and eventually, biosignatures. Her main goal through all her work is population-level studies to uncover trends in exoplanet atmosphere properties.
