Sonia Phares is the vice president of the transformative Ignite organization within Lockheed
Martin’s Space business area. As the innovation leader for Space, she is responsible for driving
game-changing research, technology acceleration, and the development of discriminating
products for internal and external sales.

As an experienced engineering leader with over 30 years of service at Lockheed Martin, Sonia
knows what it takes to consistently deliver on mission priorities without compromising the
engineering creativity needed to be a flexible and dynamic business. Most notable about Sonia is
her passion for transformation. She constantly challenges her team to consider how they
approach work, both now and in the future, and implements tools and technologies to modernize
her team’s day-to-day tasks. Her dogged determination to revolutionize the industry has led her
teams to develop technologies years ahead of current operations.

Sonia graduated from Colorado Technical University with a Master of Science in Computer
Science and Engineering and has a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language from James Madison
University.
